“Danish orthography for folks and robots” Lecture by Peter Juel Henrichsen
16:00 til 17:00
The Vigdís International Centre for Multilingualism and Intercultural Understanding invites you to the lecture “Danish orthography for folks and robots” by Peter Juel Henrichsen, senior researcher at the Danish Language Council, in Veröld hús Vigdísar on the 4th of February 2025 at 16:00.
The lecture will present a database called COR1 (Det Centrale Ordregister, level 1) that is part of the recently released 5th edition of Retskrivningsordbogen (RO), the lexicon defining the official Danish orthography. In COR1, each lemma and each word form carry an id, and this framework also accommodates other dictionaries, allowing lexical information to flow freely. Peter Juel Henrichsen will discuss the opportunities this novelty opens and venture into the near future of computational lexicology.
The event is organised in collaboration with the Institute of Linguistics (Málvísindastofnun) at the University of Iceland and the Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute of Foreign Languages.
