Ian McEwan receives literary award in Veröld – House of Vigdís

World renowned author Ian McEwan became the first recipient of the new Halldór Laxness International Literary Award today. The 15,000 euro prize is awarded to an internationally-recognised writer whose works are judged to have helped renew the art of literature. Prime minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir presented the author with the award in Veröld – House of Vigdís.
McEwan, who is considered one of Britain’s greatest living writers, has published 18 books as well as screenplays, children’s books, plays, and operas.
