Polish Days in Veröld 17-21 February
Polish Days will be held in Veröld – House of Vigdís 17–21 February. The events are organized by the Language Centre of the University of Iceland, The Vigdís Institute and International Centre in participation with the University of Warsaw and the Embassy of Poland in Reykjavík.

Talk on Polish Food Culture and Food Tasting
Joanna Predota from the University in Warsaw gives the talk Historical insight on Polish „food culture”. After her talk, guests will be invited to try authentic Polish food. The event is co-organized by the Polish Embassy to Iceland.
About the talk:
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think “Polish food”? Dumplings (pierogi)? Sausage (kiełbasa)? Maybe something else? What were people eating 100, 200 years ago? This presentation is addressed to those who are interested in food culture overall and in the historical approach to everyday life culture.

Joanna Predota gives the talk Tricks and surprises while teaching heterogeneous groups
“The problem of having students on different levels in one group is everyday struggle for teachers of “small languages”. How to keep more advanced students interested? How to help those who are less advanced and motivate them? In my presentation I will try to show some ideas and inspirations on how to deal with this type of groups and make the learning process effective and motivating for both: students and teachers.”
Joanna Prędota, PhD in the field of linguistics, teaches Polish as a foreign language since 2009, lecturer in “POLONICUM” Center of Polish language and Culture for Foreigners at the University of Warsaw; author of textbooks for Polish as inherited language and articles on methodology of teaching and methodology of teaching related to psycholinguistics; interested in psycholinguistics, comparative linguistics, history of culture.
