Sámi National Day

Today on 6 February the Sámi National Day is celebrated all over Sápmi. Last year the Vigdís International Centre organized the seminar "Cultural Production and Language Futures: Perspectives from Sápmi", now available online.

This was a seminar, bridging academia and practice, on the practices and challenges of cultural production in Sámi languages with talks on yoiking as a decolonial tool, a global indigenous film network and on teaching new Sámi speakers.

The event was planned and hosted in collaboration with Nordiska ministerrådets insats Små språk i Norden.
