Vigdís Centre Participating in UNESCO’s International Mother Language Day Event in Paris
The Vigdís International Centre for Multilingualism and Intercultural Understanding was proud to present its work and activities at the Icelandic stand during the celebration of International Mother Language Day at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris organised by the Permanent Delegation of Bangladesh to UNESCO.
Sofiya Zahova, director of the Vigdís International Centre, welcomed visitors and representatives of states to UNESCO and discussed with them the linguistic diversity in Iceland, the legacy and achievements of Vigdís Finnbogadóttir and the Centre´s contribution to UNESCO’s mission were discussed. Guðrún Þorsteinsdóttir, policy officer at the Permanent Delegation of Iceland to UNESCO, presented the priorities of Iceland as a member of UNESCO’s Executive Board. A film about the Living Language Lab exhibition was screened throughout the event.
